Brooke and Jett Come to Visit!

We were so excited to be surprised by Brooke, our sister-in-law, and baby Jett this last week. They live in Calgary, Canada and were not able to come down for the 4th. We thought we'd never get the time we want with them. Jett Joshua Berry was born on March 4th, 2009 and is cute as a button. Jozlyn basically wanted to be his mom, she fed him, held him, played with him, and talked baby talk like a seasoned mom. By the next time we see them, Jett will probably be crawling!

Gardens at BYUI

As I rolled over in bed to gaze at the face of my loving husband, he opened his eyes and said, "I'm scheduled to work everyday this week." What! It's hard having him gone so much, but that's what he has to do to support our family. I told him that we should go for a drive somewhere and have a picnic, being that we won't see him for a week. The spot we chose...the Botanical Gardens at BYU-Idaho. Neither of us had been there before and to say it was beautiful would be an understatement.

The 4th on the Falls

This is officially my last post about the 4th of July. There were just too many cute pictures for only one post. Well, for the fireworks on the 4th of July we were fortunate enough to have a room at the Red Lion Hotel on the Falls. Josh booked it a whole year ago and I had forgotten we had it. We felt like VIP's to have a reserved parking spot and to watch the fireworks from the comfort of a balcony that had a perfect view. To be able to go straight to bed and not fight the traffic was also a major plus. Fun was had by all.

The 4th at Heise Hot Springs

Here is yet more pictures from the 4th of July. We decided to nix the parade to get more sun and swimming at Heise Hot Springs. We spent the whole day there and the kids had a blast. They acted just like fish the whole time. Realizing they could reach the pool floor, they refused to wear their water wings and insisted on jumping in, much to Mom's dismay. My eyes were constantly searching the water for the child who went a little too deep. All the children ended up alive and well after the whole thing and I could breathe again. Water just plain scares me. Well, here are some cute shots inbetween the constant shouts to come closer to the stairs.

More week of 4th stuff

Here are more pictures from the week Josh's family was in town. Josh's sister, Holly Dobson, throws an annual firework party where we all bring goodies and watch some fireworks from the comforts of her home. Fun and always exciting!

Way too many to post all at once!

Most of you know that Josh's family comes into town for a week around the 4th of July. We have a whole week of fun together and are exhausted by the time they leave. This year, not everyone was able to make it here, and we sure did miss those that were not here. These are a few pictures of our nieces and nephew. I watched them for a few hours while their parents took a much-needed nap (they have a baby and a 2 year old that stayed with them). It will probably take me a few other posts to get all the pictures from the week.

Izabella and India wanted their hair the same as Jozlyn and Haylie Jo's. Thank goodness it didn't take very long.

Camping Fun

Our family went camping for the first time ever! Josh has gone camping with friends, I have gone camping with the young women in our ward, but we have never gone camping as an entire family together. To say it was fun was an understatement. Do you remember the excitement of doing something you've never done before when you were a child? The girls spent the afternoon venturing around the campsite, getting dirty, looking at bugs, and roasting food on the campfire. Jozlyn said making smores was her favorite thing we did, Haylie Jo liked the campfire. The girls went to sleep at dusk and slept well, that is until I scared them half to death. I kept hearing a rustling in the trees and I swear I could hear something drinking from the nearby stream. I thought it was a bear for sure, a friend we were with kept saying it could be a man. I grabbed the girls and shoved them in the car. Josh and his friend Brad went looking to see what it was. It turned out to be only a beaver. I'm such a scardy pants.

Mother-Daughter walk around the Greenbelt

For mutual on Tuesday, the laurels had planned a mother/daughter walk around the greenbelt. It was so much fun! The greenbelt is approximately 2.3 miles and I was crossing my fingers that both Jozlyn and Haylie Jo would walk the whole way around. Jozlyn made it the whole way around, Haylie Jo made is most of the way. When we reached the half way point Haylie Jo was flushed and panting. By the time we made it 3/4 of the way, I was chanting, "I think I can, I think I can," over and over. I told her to repeat, "I can do hard things," which she did repeat a few times. A laurel stopped and asked if she wanted a piggy-back ride. Haylie Jo rode the last 1/4 of the way. After the walk, we all sat by the river and had a picnic.
